After years in the making, MishMash opened its doors to the public on 19 February 2010, offering its customers the revolutionary concept of open kitchen cooking together with each customer’s own “MishMash” of Caribbean and cosmopolitan flavours cooked together before their eyes.
The fusion of international dishes with a Caribbean twist is a truly tasty concept, which comes to life with a final unique ingredient: the delicious combination chosen by the customer to make what is truly their own MishMash.
The concept of MishMash fusion cuisine is the brainchild of Frank Beckford, but it wasn’t an idea which emerged overnight. The story of MishMash begins in the 1970s. Growing up in a Jamaican family in Smethwick in the West Midlands, Frank could be sure of two things: tasty food and English weather. When 16 year old Frank read a prediction in one of his school reports that he would amount to nothing by the time he was 18, rather than becoming resigned to this gloomy outlook, it had the effect of spurring him on to be a success.
